Privacy Policy
Effective Date: May 25, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Tremia handles personal data in connection with the tremia.app website and the IntervalGuide app for Android, Wear OS, and iPhone, as well as Apple Watch companion features if you use them. IntervalGuide is designed so that workout and health data remain under your control. Tremia does not operate a user account system and does not receive your workout or heart rate data on Tremia servers.
1. Controller and Scope
Controller within the meaning of the GDPR is: Amir Tairi, Götzstraße 5, 80809 München, Germany.
You can reach us at: support@tremia.app
This Privacy Policy applies to the tremia.app website, support and release-update emails, and the current Android, Wear OS, and iPhone release of IntervalGuide, as well as Apple Watch companion features where available.
A Data Protection Officer has not been appointed because, according to our current assessment, the legal requirements for appointment are not met. If this changes, we will update this Privacy Policy.
2. Website Access, Hosting, and Locale Cookie
When you visit tremia.app, our hosting provider Vercel may process technical request data such as your IP address, date and time of access, requested URL, referrer, browser information, device information, and language preferences derived from request headers or the NEXT_LOCALE cookie.
We process this data to deliver the website, ensure security and stability, defend against abuse, and troubleshoot technical problems. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is the secure and reliable operation of the website.
If you manually switch languages, the website stores the technically necessary NEXT_LOCALE cookie so that your language choice can be remembered for future visits. The cookie stores only the selected locale and is set for up to 12 months. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR in conjunction with § 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG.
3. Contact by Email and Update Requests
If you email us or use a mailto link on the website, for example for support, bug reports, feature requests, beta access, or iOS/watchOS updates, we process the data you provide to us. This may include your email address, name or alias, the content of your message, attachments, and the time of the communication.
We process this data to answer your request, provide support, manage release-interest communications, and document our correspondence where necessary. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where your request relates to a contract or pre-contractual steps, and otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is efficient communication with users and prospective users.
We retain this correspondence until the matter has been resolved and, where necessary, longer to comply with legal retention obligations or to defend legal claims.
4. App Use Without a Tremia Account
IntervalGuide does not require account creation, sign-in, or registration with Tremia. Workout configurations, notes, timer settings, workout history, and comparable usage data are designed to remain on your device.
The legal basis for processing that is necessary to provide the app features you request is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR. Tremia does not operate a cloud backend for workout or heart rate data and does not receive this data on Tremia servers.
5. Heart Rate, Workout Data, Health Connect, and Apple Health
The current Android, Wear OS, and iPhone release of IntervalGuide can process heart rate samples, workout session records, heart rate zone statistics, and related workout data locally on your devices in order to provide live BPM display, workout summaries, heart rate zones, and workout history.
To the extent that health data is processed within the meaning of Art. 9 GDPR, the legal basis is your explicit consent under Art. 9 (2) (a) GDPR and, where required, Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, for example when you grant health permissions or actively enable sync features. Other processing necessary to provide the requested app functionality is based on Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR.
If you enable health sync, selected workout summaries and heart rate samples are written only to the health platform on your device: on Android to Health Connect, and on iPhone to Apple Health using HealthKit. Tremia does not receive this data on Tremia servers.
Apple Health / HealthKit data is used only for workout functionality. It is never used for advertising, marketing, profiling, analytics, or tracking and is never stored in iCloud by IntervalGuide. Data written to Health Connect or Apple Health may be made available to other apps only under the permissions and platform rules you choose on your device.
6. Bluetooth, Sensors, Wearables, Call State, and Foreground Service
The app uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to discover and connect to compatible heart rate monitors and to receive heart rate data during workouts. If you use the Apple Watch companion app, heart rate data and workout state may be exchanged locally between your watch and iPhone through Apple's device-to-device communication frameworks. If you use the Wear OS companion app, workout state and heart rate data may be exchanged locally between your watch and phone through Google's wearable connectivity framework so that the requested features work across devices. Tremia does not receive this data on Tremia servers.
Depending on the feature you enable, IntervalGuide may also use on-device motion sensor data for shake-to-pause, read phone call state on Android to pause a workout during incoming calls, and run a foreground service with a persistent notification so workouts can continue while the app is in the background. Tremia does not receive the resulting workout or health data on Tremia servers.
The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR because it is necessary to provide the app functions you request.
7. Advertising, Subscriptions, and Store Payments
The free version of IntervalGuide displays advertisements through Google AdMob. Depending on applicable law, device settings, and any consent requested by Google, Google may process device or advertising identifiers, IP address, app interactions, diagnostics data, and approximate location derived from IP for ad delivery, fraud prevention, frequency capping, reporting, and personalization.
Tremia does not send workout or heart rate data to AdMob.
IntervalGuide offers optional subscriptions through the relevant platform store. On Android and Wear OS, subscriptions are processed through Google Play. On iPhone, subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store. Payment card details are processed by the relevant store operator, not by Tremia.
The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR for providing the ad-supported or premium version you choose. Where consent is required for personalized advertising or access to advertising identifiers, the legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR.
8. Recipients and International Transfers
Depending on the relevant processing activity, recipients or categories of recipients may include Vercel as hosting provider, our email provider, Google for Google Play, Google Play Billing, Google AdMob, Health Connect, and Wear OS connectivity, and Apple for App Store purchases, Apple Health / HealthKit, and Apple Watch companion connectivity where you use those features.
Some of these providers may process personal data in countries outside the European Economic Area, especially the United States. Where no adequacy decision exists, transfers are based on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and any supplementary safeguards offered by the relevant provider.
Google and Apple may act as independent controllers for their own platform services. Please also review their privacy information.
9. Retention and Deletion
- Website request logs are retained only for as long as necessary for technical operations and security under the settings of the hosting provider.
- The NEXT_LOCALE cookie is stored for up to 12 months unless you remove it earlier.
- Support emails and release-interest messages are retained until the request has been handled and longer only where necessary for follow-up, legal retention obligations, or the defense of legal claims.
- Workout, heart rate, and configuration data remain on your devices until you delete the app or remove the data yourself.
- Data written to Health Connect can be removed in Health Connect or in the connected health apps you authorize there.
- Data written to Apple Health can be removed in Apple Health.
Because Tremia does not store workout or heart rate data on its own servers, there is generally no server-side copy for Tremia to delete.
10. Your Rights
- right of access under Art. 15 GDPR
- right to rectification under Art. 16 GDPR
- right to erasure under Art. 17 GDPR
- right to restriction of processing under Art. 18 GDPR
- right to data portability under Art. 20 GDPR
- right to object under Art. 21 GDPR
If processing is based on consent, you may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future, for example by changing your device permissions or disabling the relevant feature. The withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal.
11. Supervisory Authority and Automated Decision-Making
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The authority competent for Tremia in Bavaria is: Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.
Tremia does not carry out automated decision-making or profiling with legal or similarly significant effects within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR.
12. Children's Privacy
IntervalGuide is not directed at children under the age of 13. If you believe that a child has provided personal data to us through email or another direct communication channel, please contact us so that we can review the matter.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect legal, technical, or product changes. We will publish the updated version on this page with a new effective date.
